Trump’s new proclamation slaps a $100,000 annual tax on H-1B visa petitions - turning a critical talent pipeline into a toll road only the richest firms can afford.

This is a whiplash moment for anyone who remembers Trump’s on-again, off-again flirtation with Silicon Valley.

@ElonMusk, Trump’s sounding board on Mars dreams and American manufacturing, has long argued that importing the world’s brightest engineers is essential if the U.S. wants to lead in AI, space tech, and clean energy.
