8月26日上午，西藏日喀则吉隆口岸因尼泊尔一侧发生泥石流，造成重大人员伤亡、失联。有亲历者称，当天上午10时许，从吉隆镇驾车前往口岸，在距离口岸约4公里处发现前方树木、电线杆已被冲倒，“大水卷来撵着我们”，车辆不敢掉头，只能一路倒车逃生，连续倒退约3公里后才脱离急流区域。
