A Chinese classmate of my daughter (14 yrs old) said, in perfect english with American accent: i am a capitalist at heart, but communist in the brain!

This dichotomy shows the state of confusion in today's Chinese society.

On one hand the lure and flashy symbols of capitalism, with the legitimate desire to create wealth;
on the other hand the pressures from the government to follow their ideas unconditionally.

The problem is that these two concepts, capitalism and communism, are irreconcilable.

Capitalism necessitates rule of law, accountability and separation of powers.
In this modern Chinese communism, all the three above are absent.

I think most of young Chinese are confused by this society (get rich + nationalistic government).

But i am also hopeful that next generation maybe will find a way to correct these contradictions.
