Taiwan was first to warned the WHO in December about a dangerous new virus from China, but Tedros, not wanting to offend his patrons in Beijing, ignored it.

Always alert to threats coming from China, Taiwan immediately instituted rigorous screening of all passengers from Wuhan for fever and other symptoms of the flu.

Taiwan tested passengers for no fewer than 36(!) known viruses, and when the tests came back negative concluded that a dangerous new virus was on the loose.

Taiwan also warned of person-to-person transmission--which China was denying--and was also ignored.
