When you organize an event like this, you are responsible for the safety of your guests—especially when the President is attending.
Anyone could have entered the hotel armed and attacked people at the photocall, including figures like Marco Rubio or Pete Hegseth. They sold more than 2,000 tickets at $500 each and still failed to put adequate security measures in place. The President attended an event where most of those present oppose him and frequently spread what he considers false narratives about him. Nothing good was likely to come out of that night. He should never have attended what was, effectively, a trap. As for some media outlets, the issue is not a lack of criticism—they face plenty of it—but a serious lack of accountability.
