In 2019, I was one of the international monitors of the last free elections in Hong Kong. Before returning to the UK, I spoke to Jimmy Lai and @CardJosephZen - and both of these singular men were under no illusions about the grave threat to Hong Kong’s “two systems one country” freedoms - both political and religious.
In his op ed, Sebastien says of those who stand for freedom against tyranny: “Churchill’s Britain answered. The Tank Man stood. My father stands still - in his cell- at 78, unbowed.”
