A Chinese male passenger who was about to disembark the plane said these words to a Taiwanese female flight attendant.

Furthermore, the man invited her, saying,

"Why don't you come visit the 'mainland of the motherland' next time?"

From what could be heard of the conversation, the man himself probably had no ill intent and seemed to be speaking out of familiarity or goodwill.

However, whether the Taiwanese counterpart would take being called "Taiwan Province" and having the Chinese mainland referred to as her "motherland" as a matter of course is another story altogether.

From the footage, the female flight attendant's expression seemed to stiffen for a moment, as if she felt discomfort.

Even so, she did not show her emotions outwardly or argue back, handling the situation with courtesy until the end.

Even words spoken with good intentions don't necessarily mean the other person shares the same perspective—this was a scene that prompted a little reflection on that.
