Pro-democracy protesters and bystanders were mercilessly beaten by triads wearing white T-shirts. Gwyneth was also physically assaulted while reporting the incident and live streamed her own beating.

Despite numerous 999 calls for help by the public, most went unanswered, and police did not arrive for a long time, allowing the violence to continue.
