Hardline, pro-Beijing Regina Ip, who posted the photo, was invited to London last month by the UK govt at the height of the persecution of democracy activists, including #jimmylai, under draconian national security laws she was instrumental in introducing. Her agenda included an audience at Chatham House I understand that one of UK’s leading think tanks needs to talk to a range of people - though its China coverage is for the most part extremely bland - but why the happy family photograph?
