According to The WaPo, Washington first urged Kyiv to weaken its draft, then introduced its own version and pushed Ukraine to drop its proposal, which had broad support.
The short U.S. draft resolution acknowledges “the tragic loss of life throughout the Russia-Ukraine conflict” and “implores a swift end to the conflict and further urges a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia.”
Russia’s U.N. ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, called the U.S. resolution “a good move.”
