Even in darkness, humanity carved beauty into stone.

One day, we’ll be the ancients.
And when future generations dig through our ruins, what will they find?
Marble gods once stood tall in Athens.
Terracotta warriors guarded emperors in China.
Even in darkness, humanity carved beauty into stone.
So when I see a statue in Times Square be it modern, raw, imperfect, I don’t scoff.
I see a message we’re leaving behind.
Because our ancestors left us theirs.
And I’d rather we leave something, anything, than let silence speak for us.
Otherwise, we’ll be remembered as the age that turned off the lights after the Enlightenment.
