SCOOP: As the Senate prepares to vote in about an hour on the Stable Coin bill also known as the GENIUS Act, Capitol Hill sources telling me @SenWarren is now on the floor continuing to try and derail the legislation to the point that @SenatorHagerty -- the bill's sponsor -- is telling people the vote is getting "tight," my sources say. Warren has political reasons to hate this bill (she hates crypto and Trump) It should be noted that the banking industry hates this bill because it weakens its ability to be a custodian of securities and make money off of the so-called float. One lawmaker involved said "it will be 59 votes or 70 and if its 59 votes it fails." If this bill fails it will be next to impossible to get serious crypto reform legislation through anytime soon given the Senate sked including passing a budget. Warren, as I previously reported, is trying to tie the legislation to Trump and his meme coin biz, which is a mischaracterization of the legislation that focuses on crypto backed by US denominated assets.
