Jinchao Wei, 25, a US Navy sailor in California, was convicted of spying for China. His charges includes espionage, conspiracy to commit espionage, and unlawful export of classified data about US Navy ships.
What is worse, in his text, he jeered at other Navy sailors "make extra money by driving cab", where he made $12,000 by "leaking secrets". And his mother responded "Good job!"
The conviction of Wei Jinchao is a strategic warning. And it is not an isolated case. US army should step up with counterintelligence to protect its national security and surface more Chinese spies in future.
