The UK Government has now put on record that it is aware of the detention of Zhang Yadi, is following developments closely, and regularly raises human-rights concerns with the Chinese authorities. This confirmation was provided on 11 Nov 2025 in a written answer by @FCDOGovUK Parliamentary Under-Secretary @SeemaMalhotra1 , in reply to a tabled Parliamentary Question (UIN 83224) by MP @MPIainDS , which also asked about coordination with France and SOAS.
We’re grateful for this acknowledgement. To help keep Zhang Yadi safe, we respectfully urge next steps: a public statement naming her; a demarche to the PRC Ambassador; and engagement with UN human rights mechanism (Special Procedures / HRC). Coordination with France & SOAS should continue so her offer and scholarship are protected until she can return to study.
