State Dept says the U.S.–Japan alliance is “unwavering,” covering everything from the Taiwan Strait to the Diaoyutai Islands.

Washington is calling out China’s retaliation for what it is — economic coercion.

Japan’s PM linked a Taiwan invasion to Japan’s own security, and Beijing freaked out with bans, threats, and intimidation.

The message from the U.S. couldn’t be clearer:
Japan isn’t standing alone, and China doesn’t get to rewrite the status quo.
