Chongqing Dianjiang No.1 High School | Violence, Coercion, and Silencing
On January 7, at Dianjiang No.1 High School in Chongqing, students were reportedly forced to get haircuts for a fee of RMB 10. One student who refused was pinned to the ground and kicked by three PE teachers, resulting in injuries. Afterward, the school pressured the victim’s parents to sign a “letter of forgiveness,” leading to the release of the teachers who had already been detained. Students who tried to seek help online saw their posts quickly removed.
When discipline becomes a paid service, violence is settled behind closed doors, and cries for help are erased—the issue is far bigger than a haircut. The teachers become the enforcers to feed the greed of the schools.
