Limited awareness of India; perceptions often rely on outdated stereotypes (caste, curry) and second-hand Western narratives, with little direct engagement or understanding of India on its own terms
Political opportunism ahead of upcoming local elections
Ongoing concerns over facilities and treatment of existing SE Asian migrant workers
That said, Taiwan still urgently needs foreign labour to meet workforce demand!
