This is what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with Bloomberg:
“They want the parade to proceed calmly for a few hours, and then resume attacks. We do not want any ceasefire to become a tactical maneuver by the Russian Federation. We always respond positively to sincere ceasefire proposals from Russia, if such proposals exist.”
He added that Russia may raise the issue of a ceasefire in exchange for lifting certain sanctions and urged the US and EU not to yield:
“I know that they are raising the issue of canceling SWIFT sanctions so their banks can operate. For Ukraine, all of this poses a major risk.”
