BREAKING: California Governor Gavin Newsom is signing new legislation to strengthen protections against election interference, intimidation, and unauthorized law enforcement activity ahead of the June 2 statewide primary.
The law increases penalties for illegally seizing ballots, restricts interference with election workers, and blocks unauthorized access to voter rolls and voting systems, including by federal agents without a court order.
Newsom: “California will not allow our elections to be commandeered by political intimidation, abuse of power, or chaotic interference from extremists chasing conspiracy theories. This law protects voters, election workers, and the integrity of the democratic process from election-deniers who want to undermine democracy.”
