China’s Xianyu (their Craigslist) right now:
Seller lists ‘Look at Fu’ for about $1.40.
Fu = the Chinese character for good fortune / blessing.
The main photo is a young girl with a dog-ear filter.
Buyer immediately disputes: ‘This is for selling porn videos and guiding offline transactions.’
Seller’s defense:
‘I’m just a normal person selling Fu stickers. That video is pretty, you’re overthinking it. I already sent you a Fu image. The video call was only so you could pick which style of Fu you like.’
This is textbook Chinese internet plausible deniability — hide behind a culturally clean, lucky character while the real bait does the work.
