That the interview would be conducted by a fellow Australian, albeit one who has essentially betrayed Australia to act as a propagandist for Putin, seems a bitter pill indeed. What were the real circumstances behind Oscar's agreeing to this extraordinary interview? Why did he say that he was willing to fight for Russia, having just explained at length his outrage at Russia's bullying of Ukraine and desire to join the fight?
This video brings back memories of sessions in the IRGC's film studio beneath their interrogation block, and of constant pressure to agree to be recruited by them. Was Oscar put under similar pressure? Did he give this interview of his own free will, and if so, why?
