It has been reported that a tragic incident involving a food delivery worker occurred in China.
According to a video circulating online, purportedly from the individual himself, he was unable to enter the apartment complex on his motorcycle, so the delivery worker carried approximately 15kg of goods and walked 200–300 meters to make the delivery.
However, the customer did not answer the phone, and later said, "I don't need it anymore."
Then, the delivery worker impulsively took an irreparable action.
After the incident, he posted the video in a group chat for delivery workers.
"I killed two people. One more is seriously injured and hiding in the room,"
he said, explaining the circumstances leading to the incident, and added,
"I die without regrets"
"I have no regrets, even in death."
It is said that he did not flee and waited for the police to arrive on the scene.
Of course, no matter how angry one may be, killing or injuring someone can never be justified.
However, one can't help but wonder if this incident should simply be dismissed as just "a delivery worker snapping."
In China's food delivery industry, the system ties income to delivery times and customer ratings, and the issue of delivery workers laboring under intense time pressure has long been a problem.
Furthermore, conflicts with security guards over motorcycle access to complexes, troubles with customers, and other incidents where those at the front lines clash have been recurring.
There have been past cases where a delivery worker who received a low rating visited the customer, and discussions escalated into violent incidents.
In China, such phenomena are often described as
"mutual harm among the underclass"—where those at the bottom of society hurt each other.
Regarding this incident as well, it is necessary to confirm official announcements from the police and others for specific details such as the sequence of events and the number of casualties.
However, if the circumstances circulating online are true, what remained in the end was an utterly irreparable outcome—for both the customer who ordered and the worker who delivered. https://t.co/FQzYupmRUa
