At the Asian Games in Japan, China’s Tang Jing was losing the ground fight in the women’s −70 kg quarterfinal.
She bit Maeda Rin’s left arm and, according to Japanese reports, did not let go for more than 20 seconds.
Maeda rolled up her sleeve. The tooth marks were clear. After a video review the Chinese coach also watched, Tang was disqualified.
She told reporters “No,” then skipped the bronze repechage. Maeda won the gold. On the Chinese internet the story is already being filed under “Japanese media hype,” not under the bite.
