A girl in China posted what was left of her room on October 3. Dolls ripped open. Flags cut. Merch in pieces on the floor.
She said she had used her scholarship for a trip to Hangzhou that lasted less than two days. Her father decided the idol fandom had made her “crazy,” so he destroyed the collection to teach her a lesson and set her straight.
She wrote: “Destroyed my room, destroyed my utopia.” Later, on Weibo: “Dad, I will never forgive you. I will work hard to repair the dolls.”
The scholarship was hers. The trip was under 48 hours. The response was to annihilate the only space she treated as her own.
This is what “strict Chinese parenting” often is once the camera is off: the parent owns the child, the money, the hobby, and the right to call independence a mental problem. The stuffing on the floor is the lesson. The illness on display is not the fandom.
