Oct 25, Kuala Lumpur: Group of 6 mainland Chinese (couple + friends) didn’t pay for seat selection. Random seats assigned.
Wife sees empty seat next to husband → sits there without permission or fee.
Crew: Return to assigned seat or pay the extra.
They refuse, stand in aisle, shout, and escalate. Male relative turns to other Chinese passengers:
“是不是中國人呀?你們有沒有了解前因後果?”
(“Are you Chinese or not? Do you even understand the situation?”)
Security boards. Standoff continues. Captain orders entire plane deboarded for full re-security check. Other passengers furious — one Cantonese speaker reportedly called them selfish for wasting everyone’s time over one unpaid seat.
Low-cost rules are clear: unpaid seats stay where assigned. Entitlement + emotional blackmail turns a seat change into a full-cabin delay.
Video circulating. Same pattern as previous AirAsia China-route dramas.
