In a CCP text book parody of justice, Joshua Wong, one of Hong Kong’s leading pro-democracy advocates, has been sentenced to a further 10 Years imprisonment. China’s Nelson Mandela has been in jail since November 2020 and was due to be released in January 2027. See @thecfhk report: https://t.co/AOf3v3PVIA Lord Sumption was right that Hong Kong is "slowly becoming a totalitarian state" where the rule of law is "profoundly compromised".
No self respecting lawyer should lend respectability to a Communist Party police state.
Although unjustly held behind bars, Joshua Wong’s passion for freedom, democracy and humanity must continue to inspire those of us who enjoy the freedom which Joshua is denied.
Joshua Wong is a recipient of the Westminster Award for Human Rights, Human Life and Human Dignity. He is in prison in Hong Kong for standing up for the freedoms which Britain and China promised Hong Kong. @andyburnham & @Ed_Miliband should join with @KemiBadenoch, speak out and act. Time to summons the Chinese Ambassador. @MPIainDS @TomTugendhat
Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison from 1962 until his release on February 11, 1990, jailed for his opposition to apartheid, described incarceration as “a profound education in patience and a true test of commitment.” He insisted that “To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity."
Like Mandela and like his famous namesake, one day Joshua will see the CCP’s walls of tyranny come crashing down. https://t.co/oPPKnegKWG @ipacglobal
