You really think Trump is about to strike a grand bargain with China?
After reading Stephen Miran’s “A User’s Guide to Restructuring the Global Trading”, listening to Bob Lighthizer’s interview with Tucker Carlson, and the All In podcast with Scott Bassett and Howard Lutnick, there’s no way you can convince me that’s happening.
Look at the chart below and listen to Lutnick from the 1-hour mark for 10 minutes. The Trump adm and Xi have fundamentally opposing economic philosophies, realities, and objectives.

P.S. this is very entertaining and informative interview. I’m amazed by the talents in that Trump cabinet.
•The U.S., the world’s biggest consumer (~$20 trillion), wants to tariff imports and onshore production for national security, economic welfare, and fiscal sustainability.
•China, the world’s biggest producer (~$5 trillion), depends on manufacturing to sustain its economic growth.
Add in national security, geopolitics, and global leadership, and the divide grows even starker.
Where exactly is the room for compromise?
