The idea that abandoning Taiwan would somehow bring “peace” with the CCP is one of the most dangerously naive geopolitical fantasies of our time.
Taiwan is not just a symbolic issue. Geographically, it sits at the center of the First Island Chain. If the CCP takes Taiwan, it becomes an unsinkable aircraft carrier projecting Chinese naval and air power directly into the Pacific.
From there, China can pressure Japan, threaten the Philippines, challenge U.S. naval dominance, and break America’s entire regional containment architecture.
Appeasement does not satisfy expansionist powers. It feeds them. People said in 1938 that giving up Sudetenland to Nazi Germany would preserve peace too.
