This screenshot is from my former drinking buddy Chow Hang-tung’s (@zouxingtong) mitigation submissions today, in which she refused to mitigate at all over being convicted by the Hong Kong judiciary of inciting subversion under Hong Kong’s National Security Law - of particular resonance was this line:
“I would rather be a criminal than a person who betrays their conscience.”
In saying this, Ah Tung speaks not just for herself, but also for many of us who are refusing to yield to tyranny. For so long as Ah Tung does not yield, I will also not yield.
