Malaysia Raids Scam Center, Arrests 98 People, Including 88 Chinese Nationals
On October 6, Malaysia's Immigration Department announced that law enforcement officers raided a suspected scam center in Rompin, Pahang state, on the 5th, arresting 98 people. According to the report's headcount, 88 of them are Chinese nationals, along with other foreign nationals and 3 locals; the resort owner was also detained.
The Immigration Department stated that the site used generators and Starlink for internet connectivity, operated on a 24-hour rotating shift basis, and set performance targets for members; authorities seized 120 sets of computers, 100 mobile phones, and 11 sets of Starlink equipment on site. The detained individuals have been sent to Putrajaya for further investigation.
