Israel and Saudi Arabia still have no formal diplomatic relations.
Yet after the deadly terrorist attack at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a direct public message of solidarity with the Saudi people.
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the horrific terrorist attack,” Netanyahu said, offering condolences to the families of the 12 people killed and wishing the wounded a full recovery.
He ended with a broader message:
“Israel looks forward to a strong Middle East, one that stands united against threats, protects its people, and builds a future of security, cooperation, and prosperity for all the peoples of our region.”
For an Israeli prime minister to issue a message like this publicly, directly to Saudi Arabia, is significant.
