Chang is one of the most influential modern Chinese writer, known for her novels depicting life in Shanghai and Hong Kong in 1930s and 1940s.

This is a clip from her English speech delivered in 1969 at the Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University.

The full original recording runs about 1 hour 12 minutes and is archived at Harvard’s Schlesinger Library.
